The Heart
I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. (Ezekiel 11:19)
For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)
The Bible
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God, may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2Tim3:16-17)
Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. (John7:17)
When studying the Bible, we want to make sure we allow God to move our hearts. Many organizations have their own set of standards and only reference the Bible as a reason for their own ideas. If we want to truly experience the blessings of God, we cannot take this approach.
God wants to change our hearts and impact our lives to truly change us from the inside out. He wants us to be the very best we can be, by becoming as much as Jesus as we can possibly be. No one except God can and will change us and He does this through his powerful word.
When we read and study the Bible, we expect God to do the hard work and we only just help each other to listen to Him and learn from Him. This is not easy, because it is tempting to want to press on others what we ourselves think and believe. We, as disciples of Jesus, have a deep conviction that our opinions, habits and beliefs are far inferior to those of Jesus. We gladly let go of our own preferences, to allow God to touch our hearts. Let's allow God to do His work as we study the Bible together!
